#MarlinsTakeover Just Won’t Go Away: Dee Gordon Edition

I don’t have anything against Dee Gordon. He seems like a nice guy, and I wish him the best. But in the context of the #MarlinsTakeover narrative that’s all over baseball right now, people need to get a grip about what Dee Gordon is. I’ve written a few times about how there is no logical reason to believe the Marlins are better than the Mets (please, read this), but the narrative continues.

Gordon is a fine little player. He had a career-best season last year worth 3.2 WAR, and he’s only turning 27 this month. But last year has been the exception, not the rule, so far in his career, and he’s unlikely to be a big factor in the 2015 season. To put it bluntly, Dee Gordon isn’t that great.

Marlins Easter Egg Hunt and Open Workout This Sunday

What’s the best way to spend your Easter Sunday? With the Marlins, of course!

This Sunday, Fish fans of all ages are invited to join us on the West Plaza at Marlins Park from 1:00-2:00 PM for a FREE Easter egg hunt! With a special appearance from the Easter Bunny and plenty of candy and chocolate, it’ll be fun for the whole family.

Then, stick around afterwards to get up close and personal with the Marlins during the team’s open workout from 2:00-4:00 PM. This free event is your last chance to see them before Opening Day on Monday, April 6th!

Both the Marlins Park Ticket Office, located on Felo Ramirez Drive (NW 6th Street) and the New Era Team Store, located on the West Plaza of Marlins Way (NW 16 Avenue) will be open during this time for your shopping pleasure.
